What ADA Compliance Actually Requires
Most non-compliant lots are not missing accessible stalls — they have the wrong count, wrong aisle width, or missing signage.
Correct Stall Count
Required accessible spaces scale with total lot capacity. We calculate the ratio for your actual stall count, not a guess.
Van-Accessible Spaces
At least one in every six accessible stalls must be van-accessible with the wider access aisle and proper signage.
Access Aisle Widths
Access aisles must meet minimum widths, be clearly marked, and never be used as parking or storage.
Signage & Mounting Height
Each accessible stall needs a sign mounted at the required height so it stays visible when a vehicle is parked in the space.
Accessible Route
A marked, unobstructed path from accessible stalls to the building entrance, including ramps and curb cuts where required.
Slope Limits
Accessible stalls and aisles must stay within slope limits in all directions — a common and expensive failure point on older lots.
ADA compliance doesn't stop at the stall lines
A raised sidewalk edge on the path from the accessible stall to your door can put a lot out of compliance, even with perfect striping. ADA standards treat a level change of more than ¼ inch as a trip hazard. We grind those edges smooth during the same visit we stripe your accessible stalls.

ADA Striping FAQs
How many accessible spaces does my lot need?
It scales with total parking count, and van-accessible stalls are required as a share of those spaces. We calculate the exact requirement for your lot during the site audit and put it in writing.
What happens if a property is not compliant?
Non-compliant parking exposes owners to complaints, legal demand letters, and remediation orders. Correcting striping and signage is a fraction of the cost of defending a claim.
Do you supply and install the signage?
Yes. Accessible parking signs, van-accessible plaques, and fine notices are supplied and mounted at the required height as part of the project.
Can existing stalls be reconfigured for compliance?
In most cases, yes. We re-layout the lot so it gains compliance without losing more parking capacity than necessary.
Do you document the finished work?
Yes. We provide photo documentation of the completed accessible stalls, aisles, and signage for your property records.
