    Concrete Grinding in New Orleans

We grind down trip hazards, take old lines and coatings off concrete, and prep slabs for new finishes. It's the same crew that stripes and seals your lot, so one call handles the whole job.

Clean, freshly striped indoor concrete floor at the Waymo vehicle facility in Uptown New Orleans

Cracked, raised and painted-over concrete costs property owners in two ways: someone trips, or the lot looks neglected. StripePro now runs a walk-behind concrete grinder alongside our striping and sealcoating equipment. We grind off the problem instead of tearing out the slab. That's usually faster, cheaper and less disruptive for a business that has to stay open.

    Trip hazard removal

When one sidewalk slab sits higher than the next, that lip is a slip-and-fall claim waiting to happen. ADA standards treat a level change of more than ¼ inch as a trip hazard. We grind the high side down to a smooth, gradual edge, so the walkway is safe without pouring new concrete.

Good for: storefront sidewalks, apartment walkways, parking lot curbs and ramps, school and church grounds.

    Line and paint removal

Re-striping a lot to a new layout means the old lines have to go. Painting black over them wears through in a season and confuses drivers. On concrete, we grind old striping, arrows, stencils and coatings right off, then lay down the new layout. Both steps happen on the same job, with one crew.

Good for: parking garages, concrete lots, loading docks, warehouse floors, any re-layout or ADA stall update.

Surface prep for coatings and sealers

Epoxy, sealers and floor coatings fail early when they go on smooth or dirty concrete. We grind the surface to open it up and remove old coatings, so the new product bonds the way the manufacturer intends.

Good for: shop and warehouse floors, loading areas, garages, any slab getting a new coating.

    Floor grinding and polishing

We level and smooth worn interior slabs for warehouses, shops and showrooms. For a finished look, we take the floor through to a polished surface that's easier to clean and doesn't need a coating.

    Why property managers call StripePro

    • One crew, one visit. Grind, then stripe or seal. You don't have to line up a second contractor and work around two schedules.
    • We already know your lot. Most of our grinding work starts on properties we already stripe and seal.
    • Low dust on occupied properties. Our grinder runs with a vacuum system, so we can work near open storefronts and entrances.
    • Real projects, real names. See our portfolio of work for Waymo, SUNO, The Boyd Funeral Home and more.

    Concrete Grinding FAQs

How much does concrete grinding cost?

It depends on the size of the area, how high the trip hazards are, and what's on the surface. We give free on-site estimates with one written price, including any striping or sealing that goes with it.

Is grinding a permanent fix for a raised sidewalk?

Grinding removes the lip for good. But if the slab is still settling or being pushed up by roots, it can move again. If we see that, we'll tell you before we quote, rather than sell you a fix that won't last.

Can you remove old parking lines?

Yes, on concrete. We grind them off and can lay the new layout the same day. On asphalt lots, the usual approach is a fresh seal coat over the old layout, then new striping. We do both.

What's the difference between concrete grinding and polishing?

Grinding takes material off to level the slab, remove coatings or prep it for a new finish. Polishing goes further, through finer grits, to a smooth, glossy floor. Most outdoor and parking work is grinding only.

Will grinding make a mess at my property?

Our grinder runs with a vacuum system to keep dust down, and we clean up the work area before we leave.

Do you work on homes or only businesses?

Our focus is commercial: retail centers, apartments, offices, schools, churches and warehouses. Call us about any job and we'll tell you straight if it's a fit.
